Privacy policy

Scope

This policy covers the website at ilponente.com and the correspondence sent to its editorial address. It does not cover any third party site you reach from here, nor any service that a form on this site may connect you with, each of which publishes its own policy.

Reading the site

Pages here are static and carry no advertising network. Like any web server, the one serving this site records the requests it receives, which includes your network address, the page requested, the time, and the browser string your device sends. Those records exist to keep the site running and secure, and they are kept no longer than is needed for that purpose.

The site sets no cookie in order to show you an article. Where an interactive element stores something in your browser, it does so to remember a choice you made on the page, and clearing your browser storage removes it.

Writing to us

If you send us a complaint, a document or a right of reply, we hold your message and its attachments in an editorial file. We use it to research and write reports, to put questions to the platform concerned, and to answer you.

We do not publish anything that identifies you unless you agree to it explicitly and in writing. We do not forward your correspondence to the platform you are complaining about unless you ask us to, and if you ask us to remove your account from our file we will do so and confirm it.

Please do not send us passwords, full card numbers, copies of identity documents or account credentials. We do not need them, and material of that kind is deleted when it arrives.

Forms on this site

Where a button opens a contact form, the information you enter there is transmitted to the operator of that form rather than being stored in the pages of this site. Read the notice shown with the form before submitting anything, and send nothing you would not want held by a third party.

Correspondence is processed for the purposes of journalism and to answer the person who wrote. Server records are processed to keep the service available and secure. Editorial files are kept while the report they support remains published, unless the person who wrote asks earlier for removal.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to object to its processing, or to receive a copy. Write to [email protected] with enough detail for us to find your file, and we will answer.

If you are unhappy with our answer, you may be entitled to complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Changes

If this policy changes, the modified date shown on the page changes with it. A change that materially affects how correspondence is handled will be described on the page rather than applied silently.
